Hi! I’m Michelle Hofman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDRIA-Certified EMDR therapist, and an Approved Consultant. Since 2006, I’ve been dedicated to helping adults and adolescents heal from trauma, anxiety, and emotional struggles that hold them back from living fulfilling lives. I have been in private practice since 2012 and founded Turning Point Therapy in 2018 to create a space for deep, transformative work, and I'm proud of how many people I've helped over the years.
Education and Professional Background
I earned my undergraduate degree from Villanova University (Go Wildcats!) and completed my Master’s in Social Work at The State University at Stony Brook. Currently, I am expanding my expertise by pursuing a degree in nursing. This additional training enhances my understanding of the mind-body connection and allows me to approach therapy with an integrative perspective, addressing both emotional and physiological aspects of healing.
My Approach to Therapy
At the heart of my work is the belief that true healing comes from addressing the root causes of pain rather than just managing symptoms. I specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps clients process unresolved trauma and rewire the emotional patterns keeping them stuck. Alongside EMDR, I integrate parts/ego state work, attachment theory, and other therapeutic methods to tailor the process to your unique needs.
I know how hard it can be to take that first step and ask for help. That’s why I create a warm, supportive space where you can feel safe exploring your story and working toward lasting change. My role is to guide you through the process, offering compassion, expertise, and tools to help you reclaim your life and move forward with confidence and peace.
Who I Help
My clients come to me for support with a range of issues, including:
-Anxiety and chronic worry
-Feelings of powerlessness, worthlessness, or hopelessness
-Struggles with relationships or interpersonal conflicts
-Trauma, PTSD, and unresolved past experiences
- Phobias and panic disorders
-Emotional overwhelm and feeling 'stuck'
If any of this resonates with you, please know that you’re not alone. There is hope, and I’m here to help you find it.
Outside the Office
When I’m not working with clients or pursuing my nursing education, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing pickleball, and finding moments of peace in nature. These experiences remind me of the importance of balance and self-care—values I strive to share with my clients as they work toward their own goals.
